The name Black Diamond originated from the wax melting around the cheese. A cheesemaker would dip the cheese product in hot wax to preserve its freshness. The outside wax portion would, in turn, become black. The cheese was in the shape of a diamond. Therefore the name Black Diamond was born. I admit that I thought the name sounded much more royal and higher class than its humble beginnings. When I see Black Diamond’s name, it immediately brings royalty, diamonds, and riches to mind.
