I love finding simple snacks to feed my kiddo & if the snack can actually be somewhat healthy, that’s even better! My kid loves peanut butter & seriously will eat it with a spoon but I can typically always get her to eat a whole apple as long as she’s got some PB on the side to dip the slices in 🙂
So I decided to take her up a bowl of what we called ‘Apple Nachos’. It was super simple – just apple slices, some chocolate sauce & some peanut butter. Then I added a few peanut butter chips to the top just for fun 🙂 She loved them & mommy didn’t mind helping her eat them at all either! 😉
Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 lunch box sized apples, cored & sliced – I used a mix of Gala & Granny Smith
- 2 tablespoons chocolate spread – I used Hershey’s
- 2–3 tablespoons peanut butter
- additional toppings – chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, whipped cream, etc.
Instructions
- Place half of the apple slices in a medium bowl or spread them out on a plate.
- Put the chocolate & peanut butter in two separate small microwavable bowls. Microwave them for just a few seconds each until they are melted just enough to spoon over the apples.
- Spoon half of the chocolate & half of the peanut butter over the apples in the bowl. Top with the remaining apple slices & then top with the remaining chocolate & peanut butter. Add any additional toppings you want before serving.
