Jean Coutu Canada
The company was started back in 1969 when Mr. Jean Coutu opened his first pharmacy store in Montreal
- 1973: They incorporated and had five branches in their franchise. The company then acquired a warehouse
- 1976: the Jean Coutu Group established its Head Office in Longueuil, Montreal
- By 1982 they grew to 60 pharmacies in Quebec and opened new stores in New Brunswick and Ontario in 1983.
- 1986: Got its initial public offering listed on the Montreal and Toronto Stock Exchanges.
- By 1987: They had grown to 118 stores
At the end of fiscal 2005, the Jean Coutu Group and its collaborative network of 2,231 corporate and franchised drugstores employed more than 60,000 people.
In 2007 Launch of a new system for instant purchases in Quebec stores with AIR MILES® reward miles.
