    About Van Houtte Coffee

    Van Houtte Coffee was founded in 1919.

    The Founder: Albert-Louis Van Houtte could not find his favourite European favourite travelled to New York and bought his coffee bean roaster, so he opened the first grocery store in 1919, selling coffee.

    By the 1930s, people started to travel from far away to buy ground coffee.  He then opened a store in Quebec City.

    They grew and Grew.  In the 1980’s, Van Houtte went Public, and his coffee was easily found in every grocery store.
